Approved content and step-free wayfinding for a city hospital

A multi-specialty hospital in Mumbai put its waiting-area screens under an approval workflow and added DigiMaps wayfinding kiosks across three buildings, so nothing airs without sign-off, and visitors find departments without stopping staff.

The challenge

Waiting-area TVs ran whatever a ward had on a USB stick, with no sign-off before content aired and no record of who changed what. Visitors navigating three interconnected buildings queued at the main reception for directions, and staff walked people to departments during peak OPD hours. Urgent notices, a shifted OPD schedule, a closed entrance, took a floor-by-floor round to communicate.

What we deployed

Waiting-area screens moved to Studio layouts, department information, a clock, and an announcements ticker, published through the Digisigns CMS. Every asset now passes the moderation and approval queue before it plays, and role-based access scopes each department's team to its own screens, with changes recorded in the audit log. Urgent notices publish once and reach all 85 screens by instant push. For navigation, DigiMaps kiosks in each lobby offer 3D maps with multi-floor directions, a step-free routing option that avoids stairs and escalators, multilingual search, and a QR handoff that moves the route onto the visitor's phone. An emergency mode routes to the nearest exit.

What made it hospital-grade

Two controls did the heavy lifting. The approval queue means no asset reaches a waiting room without a named approver signing it off. Scoped roles mean OPD staff manage OPD screens and nothing else, with every change in the audit log. On wayfinding, DigiMaps routes step-free when asked, hands routes to phones over a QR code, and switches to nearest-exit routing in an emergency. “Visitors stop staff less, and nothing reaches a waiting room without sign-off. Those were the two things we asked for.”
